Increasing our operational efficiency
Policy objective 4
We want to use scarce resources sparingly. Creating maximum added value for customers and society is the focus of all our processes. In doing so, we aim to waste as little raw material, time, energy, financial resources and talent as possible.
Our objectives and practical examples
Saving 1.5% on handling turnover
Each year, H.Essers achieves a 1.5% saving on handling turnover through demonstrable Continious Improvement initiatives. The number of kilometres driven by empty trucks is reduced by 3% annually.
Tapping into talents in the social economy
In all our processes we want to offer maximum added value to society. For example, we outsource simple processes to social enterprises which specialise in repetitive work. In this way we offer weaker target groups the opportunity to use their talents and find their place in society.
Strategic and operational routing tool
Planning commodity flows based on the optimisation of loads, the smart use of modes of transport by road, water and rail, and avoiding traffic jams – thanks to the powerful mathematical heuristics of our Thor tool, we can optimally plan our entire logistics routes and continuously adapt our operations to changing realities.
